Five valid hits become a round average. Nothing here claims to measure eye health, driving fitness, or athletic potential. That number is almost never zero. Light has to reach you, your nervous system has to commit to a movement, and a finger or thumb has to close the click. Lumenhold does not split those stages apart. It timestamps the interval from the on-screen cue to your pointer-down (or tap) and leaves the anatomy as a black box. The delay before each cue is random on purpose. If the flare always arrived on a beat you could learn, you would start guessing instead of seeing. Guessing is exactly what a false start catches: click during the hold and that trial is void.

How to play

  1. Pick a cue: flare (visual reaction), glyph (click reaction), or pulse (reaction speed).
  2. Click or tap the stage once to arm a trial. The hold looks clearly different from the go state.
  3. Keep still. A random pause — usually between about 1.4 and 4.3 seconds — runs first.
  4. The instant the cue appears, click or tap. The stage reports milliseconds for that hit.
  5. If you jump the gun, you get a false start. Retry that trial; it does not enter the average.
  6. Five valid hits close the round. Your average and an estimated percentile appear. The lowest average on this browser is kept as a device best.

What the score means

Lower milliseconds are faster. A casual visual click often lands somewhere in the mid-two-hundreds, with plenty of honest scatter around that. Hardware, browser, and whether you used a mouse or a thumb all move the number. Compare yourself to your own last round before you compare yourself to a stranger on the internet.

How is the percentile calculated?

It is an estimate against a built-in, bell-shaped model of casual visual click times that ships with this page (centered near 250 ms). It is not live visitor data and not a clinical range.

Does the test work on phones?

Yes. The stage accepts taps. Use a stable grip and avoid scrolling while a trial is armed so a stray touch is not logged as a hit or a false start.
